An online campaign on popular networking site Facebook drew more than 22,000 fans and helped bring back one of Cadbury’s most iconic chocolate bars, the Wispa Gold, set to hit shelves for 55p in September.

And to mark the chocolate bar’s relaunch, the company has gone one further, and made a special edition gold leaf-covered version, that will now enter the record books as the “world’s most expensive chocolate bar” at £961.48

The price is said to correspond to the bar’s precise weight in gold. Covered in edible gold leaf, with a gold leaf wrapper to boot, this mouth-watering bar will be on display for one week at the Selfridges’ jewellery department in London.

Cadbury has also engaged the services of Spandau Ballet (a popular UK band in the eighties) singer Tony Hadley to deliver the precious bar to Selfridges with a full security team in tow – a fitting “tribute” considering the singer’s biggest single was titled “Gold”.

First launched in 1995, the caramel-filled Wispa Gold was discontinued in 2003, but come September 14, the bar will hit the shelves once again for a limited time period.

The Game publisher THQ Inc. has set out to promote the release of their latest Nintendo Wii title Big Family Games which is a game meant for whole family from kids to grandparents. Can you imagine, THQ has sent the Queen of England a gold-plated version of the Wii.

It surely comes as no surprise to spot a golden Audi R8 super car in, you know where. There’s all sorts of flashy stuff out there in Dubai that all eyes and radar can detect, but what sets this Audi apart form others is its stealth-like dull finish. The new monochromatic finish definitely calls for extensive staring at the vehicle. That’s a tantalizing blend of making us believe that such things do exist and I’ve been thinking a lot (lately) how it feeds on extravagant fantasy.

At $24,990 for a pair, the Polymer Logic speakers from Polymer Audio Research is being touted to contain more pure diamond and gold then you’ll find in any $500,000 diamond engagement ring. The loudspeakers use diamond cone midrange drivers per side, Supravox TG1 tweeter and a pair of hand made vapor deposited titanium cone woofers. Till the date, the company has used the diamond midrange cone in only one commercially available loudspeaker system, the $250,000/pr Marten Design Coltrane Supreme. The Polymer Logic’s titanium dome tweeters are adorned with a pure layer of solid gold. One more noteworthy thing – the diamond drivers are made one at a time in a plasma reactor. I won’t be surprised if someone comes up with speakers made of entire gold and diamonds and nothing else.

Caran d’Ache’s 1010 Limited Edition fountain pen is a tribute to honor the Swiss watchmaking industry.

The inspiration for the name “1010” comes from “Ten minutes past ten (10:10),” the moment when the hands on a watch dial are rightly balanced.

The body of the pen recalls the delicate gears of fine timepieces and is made of rhodium-coated silver. The clip looks like a watch hand, then there is a decorative balance wheel mounted between two rubies under a sapphire dome. Plus there are tiny tick marks around the barrel.
