Limited Edition The PLACE VENDÔME Lighter and Pen by S.T. DUPONT
Michael Jackson said “I’m a lover not a fighter” (The Girl is Mine, 1982); and I say, “I’m an architect not a smoker.”
As a part-time architect of course I love great buildings as well as its aesthetic details and elements. When the manufacturer of stylish lighters and collectible pens is inspired by one of Paris’ most famous architectural landmarks: The Place VENDOME, then it gets one place on my blog.
This new S.T. DUPONT LIGHTER features an architectural model of the royal Parisian square of that name commissioned by King Louis XIV in the 17th century. Located to the north of the Tuileries Gardens and east of the Église de la Madeleine, Place Vendôme is the starting point of the Rue de la Paix. Its regular architecture by Jules Hardouin-Mansart and pedimented screens canted across the corners give the rectangular PLACE VENDÔME the aspect of an octagon. It is also defined by its majestic proportions and strong sense of symmetry. Place Vendôme in the 1st arrondissement of Paris is acclaimed as one of the most emblematic squares of French 17th century architecture.
