The statue named ‘Siren’, the largest gold statue produced since Ancient Egyptian times according to the museum. It worths £1.5 million! Japan’s character goods maker Sanrio lately unveiled the pure gold playing cards with Hello Kitty characters designed over it on 28 September 2007 in Tokyo.The plastic laminated playing cards, produced by Japan’s metal company Mitsubishi Material, contains 0.73g pure gold per card  price of $4,930 (567,000 yen).

They’re the new fashion heavyweights: a Tokyo design school sent models decked out in more than 1,500 Austrian gold coins clinking down the catwalk on Thursday to showcase its students’ skill.

The coins, lent by the Austrian Mint Office and worth more than $1.2 million, were sewn onto three pieces of apparel — a full-length dress weighing 10 kg (22 pounds) and two jackets weighing up to 21 kg (46 pounds).

The outfits, shimmering like golden scales in the spotlight, were designed by students at Bunka Fashion College for their annual school festival.

The coins were sewn onto the clothes in a locked room within the college campus, where the teachers kept a constant watch. “I felt the weight of the task as I sewed on each piece, coin by coin,” said student Yuko Imauji.

One of the models became overwhelmed with the weight of his outfit, a 15 kg jacket, which was swiftly taken off.

“The dress is heavy but well constructed and it fits well,” said female model and student Haruna Mine said. “My back’s feeling it, though — it would be tough to wear these coins every day.”
Gold prices hit a 28-year high on Thursday as the dollar dropped. Spot gold hit a high of $799.30 an ounce, its highest since January 1980.

The legal-tender coin was introduced on 3 May 2007 by the Royal Canadian Mint with a face value of CAN$1 million (US$900,375; £451,585).

There is hardly a person ignorant about Japan’s highest skyscraper, Tokyo Tower. Named the 20th tallest tower in the world, the Tokyo Tower is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In commemoration of its golden anniversary, jeweler Ginza Tanaka is selling a 66 cm 24-carat gold replica of the heritage building. The jeweler wants you to loosen the strings of your purse, as the 5-kilogram weighing pure-gold structure asks for 50 million yen (approx. $510,000) to own one. Like the original structure, the solid gold model has a four-story building called “Foot Town” located in the base of the tower. The whole structure is handmade by skilled craftsmen to make it a detailed and perfect matching framework of the complex. However, there is no information about how many replicas of the monumental architecture have been made, but one thing is for sure, that it is an encouraging move in a time when the country is facing a high recessionary blow.
